Michelle has been in the field of Equine Assisted Therapies as a certified professional since 2000, and a lifelong equestrian from a young age. After a life threating illness in her early teens, Michelle was left forever changed. The trauma to her brain ripped her of control of her body, wiped her sense of self, and left her retreating from life. She didn’t trust humans, but she would trust a horse. Horses gave her a safe place to discover all the pieces of self – body, mind, and spirit–she had lost. Through their support she was willing to embark on the journey of self-healing and transformation.

Since then, Michelle has trained and holds certifications in a number of organizations in the field including EAGALA, PATH, and Natural Lifemanship. In 2008, she founded Unbridled Change, a non-profit organization with the mission to provide full time out-patient Mental Health sessions utilizing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning.

Over the past 15 plus years, she has developed a style to address the whole person using neuroscience, trauma and attachment therapy, with hands-on experiences of developing partnerships and relationships with horses. She has worked with thousands of clients in a range of populations, from at-risk children to veterans, providing the therapeutic space and framework for them to find hope, self-healing, and a willingness to embrace thriving in their lives.

Michelle has dedicated her life to creating supportive environments for all beings to find their path to connect to their true self – humans and horses. She shares about the lessons that horses have helped her learn in her work with EAP/L through her blog: www.healingandhorses.com – please join her, connect, and share!

In addition to presenting a different conferences and symposiums, Michelle conducts trainings on and off-sites with her team throughout the year. Topics include:

  • Developing Secure Attachments with our horses, ourselves, and our clients
  • Combining Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT model) with Equine Assisted Therapies
  • Self-Realization and Care for the helping professional
