MFT, SEP, Program Director at Otra Mas
Carol Caddes is a key component of Otra Mas, a nonprofit horse rescue and equine assisted therapy and learning program in San Juan Capistrano, California. Katherine Holman, the founder of Otra Mas, named the organization for the way her horse care employees speak of a new horse that comes to her for rehab. They would ask, “otra mas?” “Another”, or “one more?” They were always hopeful, and it was that hope that made the name. In addition to directing EAP/L, Carol has a private practice in Newport Beach, California. In 2015, Otra Mas‘ work was featured in online articles by both The Guardian and CNN.
The Otra Mas program helps people move from a limiting past to an empowered present by fostering a connection with the horse using herd behavior rituals. With experiential exercises with the horse, clients can renegotiate a damaging past and regain ownership of their lives.
Otra Mas serves a wide variety of clients including teens, the homeless, recovery groups, young adults from the foster care system, and active military.
Carol’s passion and joy is being with her horse and the other Otra Mas horses.
